2018 Year In Review

by Jennifer Hutchins

A thriving, empowered nonprofit sector is integral to Maine’s future prosperity, yet challenges loom. Over 25 years, the Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP) has built the state’s largest nonprofit network and comprehensive resource for advocacy, education and support services to help nonprofits manage an increasingly complex, competitive system.

We provide the tools, knowledge, and connections you need to be effective and well-run. We provide in-depth trainings, peer connections, updates on national trends, answers to management questions, and data on the impact of Maine nonprofits.

Like our business and government counterparts, Maine nonprofits face a tight labor market, demographic shifts, rising health care costs, and leadership transition. While service demand increases, declining public support and changes in philanthropic giving threaten our effectiveness.

Starting in 2019, you can count on us to build upon this foundation by increasing connections within the sector through more peer learning and networking (Member Mixer January 17); forging productive partnerships across the nonprofit, corporate, philanthropic and public sectors through new programs (Springboard); and providing leadership as a vocal advocate for the unique value nonprofits offer to Maine (Nonprofit Day January 17).

As the infographic shows below, we’re off to a running start with our 2018 accomplishments and looking forward to digging into 2019. Join us!
