At the End of the Day, MANP Staff Didn't Want to Leave

by Jessica Lantos

We left our office on July 29th and spent a wonderful day in Gardiner – gardening!  Our staff was invited to Arbor Terrace, an assisted living program of Medical Care Development (MCD).  This was easily the best volunteer day we can remember, as Arbor Terrace opened their doors and welcomed us so warmly. We didn’t just garden; we played games, went for walks, and talked over lunch with the residents. And we ate well! Their staff didn’t let us go for long without giving us fresh baked goods, freshly popped  popcorn, and a barbecue lunch. They even sent us off with individual bags of baked cookies and fudge.  They made us part of their day, a part of their community, and we left there feeling tired, well-fed, and humbled by their good work.
